Hi Everyone! I am so happy that Danni has invited me to share so of my furniture transformations with you. My name is Deneen and my blog is Dreamingincolor. I paint furniture but I also design, paint, craft and have recipes. I have even been telling about my recent trip to Italy too.
First let me say that I had the pleasure of meeting Danni and she is as sweet and spunky in person as she is on her blog. She has become a special friend. She even helped me out by guest posting when I was in Italy.
I never thought I would be painting furniture. I am an artist and I paint and sell canvas usually but I fell in love with furniture and transforming it into a work of art.

Painting canvas has helped me when it came to painting furniture. I applied what I knew to give it my spin on things~
I have papered the fronts of pieces.
This red hutch was a fun piece to work on. I always love the before and afters!
I like using different hardware on furniture. I find knobs I like and buy them and hope I have a piece that will fit them. I know I am crazy but I guess you can say I am a knob kinda gal!
I loved these crystal knobs!
This grey buffet was beautiful at Christmas! Funny though I decided to put this in my living room when I needed a place for my husbands huge TV to sit upon!
As an artist I get bored with doing the same things so I decided to start painting and trying different patinas. I even layered colors to get the looks I was going for and Annie Sloan featured one of them.
My French Patina painted night stands.
The key to it all is have fun! Know that there are no rules and think outside the box! I really love doing this but after you paint so much it can be tiring so I have to try and recreate the wheel to keep it interesting!!
I will leave you with what I think is my biggest transformation of all time and my favorite piece I painted...
Biggest transformation
my roll top desk without the roll! The before was horrible! Brad Paisley would have loved it for his song Camouflage! ( Sorry Danni I put a country song in there) But it was ugh ly! ....and there were lots of surprises!
The end result was soooooo much better!
My favorite painted piece is still My Audrey Hepburn Dresser!
I hope you have enjoyed the few that I shared. Please stop by my blog and look around at some more. You can search on the side bar.
Thanks again Danni! I love that our blogs have brought us together and started a friendship!
Thanks to everyone for reading!
Oh, wow! What gorgeous pieces! -Marci @ Stone Cottage Adventures
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteYour grey buffet is just gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteIt is very heavy but I love it too!
DeleteThank you Deneen! I have passed on more than one roll top desk because it was either missing the roll or the roll was broke. If I had known I could have made them look that gorgeous, I'd have grabbed one! Live and learn!
ReplyDeleteI especially love the cubbies. After I numbered them they really turned out cute. Now go buy you a desk!!!
DeleteOh my gosh... I am totally in love with that Audrey Hepburn piece. Amazing!!
ReplyDeleteTuula I sold it...sigh....I will have to make another. It is my favorite piece. To think I almost didn't do it because I thought I would screw it up.
DeleteI love all of your painted pieces Deneen but I especially love the grey buffet with the beautiful crystal knobs! I was so curious about it that I visited your other posts and decided to follow you so I wouldn't miss out anymore. Thanks Danni for introducing Deneen to me!
ReplyDeleteWelcome Gail! Thanks so much!

ReplyDeleteMine too Donna! Thank you for that sweet comment!
DeleteOh I love the look of your french patina. My girls are learning French so I'm partial to all things French. :) Beautiful work!
ReplyDeleteI love trying new things. I think that is what keeps the pieces fresh. I love the french stuff too!!
DeleteThat Audrey Hepburn dresser is still my favorite too!!!
ReplyDeleteI assumed you transferred that all this time Deneen - had no idea you were a " real " artist lol
I can't draw a stick figure XOXO
Funny! Well her eyes are a little crossed but all and all it worked out and I didn't have to paint over her!!
DeleteThey're all great but I really love the desk. I'm totally with you on the handles, I have a basketful. You never know when you might need them !
ReplyDeleteI know right? I have to sit with a piece to get a feel for it first. Sometimes I build the look out of one knob!
DeleteDeneen all your pieces are gorgeous! I love the Audry Hepburn piece, so inspiring!
ReplyDeleteAnd I love the french patina - my fav colour! Thanks for being here at the Cafe this week xx Nat
